Our approach

Through our talent mapping service, we provide a comprehensive and up-to-date view of the labor market at a given point in time, identifying key profiles within a specific industry. This enables a clear understanding of the availability of specialized talent for a particular position. Our approach combines multiple sources with in-depth market analysis.

The mapping service includes an initial phase focused on gathering general information on identified professionals, followed by a second phase involving direct outreach, assessment of interest and availability, and a preliminary interview. Finally, based on the criteria defined during this stage, we develop a Profile Summary for each selected candidate.

Methodology

Phase I

Understanding the requirement

To ensure a successful Mapping process, it is essential for Downing Teal to have a clear understanding of the overall objective, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the role under analysis. It is necessary to precisely define the required knowledge, technical competencies, personal attributes, and key challenges associated with the position.
Likewise, we consider this initial stage critical for aligning expectations.

Market Review and Talent Identification

Our mapping processes are based on identifying potential candidates through multiple sources. We conduct direct research in both local and international markets and leverage our ATS, which contains information on more than 50,000 professionals—primarily from the mining sector—worldwide. We complement this search with the use of broad-reach professional platforms with which we maintain long-standing agreements.
Additionally, we expand our talent identification efforts through referrals within our extensive network of industry contacts.

Preparation of the Longlist

The preliminary list of professionals is reviewed internally to analyze in detail their technical profiles, career backgrounds, and the aspects identified as relevant by the client. Following this assessment, we refine the list and select those who best align with the requirements, forming the Longlist that will be presented to the client.

Phase II

Candidate Contact

Based on the Longlist provided, we initiate the outreach phase to assess each professional’s interest and availability in considering a potential career move. We develop a tailored set of questions to gather key information regarding their technical profile, career background, and other attributes identified as relevant. During this stage, we also invite professionals to share their complete and updated credentials with us.

Delivery of Profile Sheet

The information gathered in the previous stages allows us to deliver a Profile Sheet for each preselected candidate, providing a preliminary assessment of their technical competencies, motivations, and other relevant aspects.
